on the 12th day of Christmas…

Read
“When they had finished everything…they returned to Galilee.” Luke 2:39

Think
In the madness and rush of all that happened that First Christmas, Mary and Joseph went home to start life as a new family. Christmas is often a rush for us, but we should be looking for spaces of stillness and times of silence. Perhaps you need to get away from it all for a short time.

Pray / Do
On Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, take some moments in silence. No music. No TV. No Facebook. No phone. For a few minutes say thanks to God for the Christmas story.

on the 11th day of Christmas

Read
“Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.” Luke 2:52

Think
As Jesus grew up, many people shaped and influenced His young life. It’s amazing to think that the Son of God had to learn from others in His life. How humble our God is!

Pray
Thank God for the people who have had a positive influence in your life. Pray for them by name.

Do
Think about who you could learn from more in your life? Ask to spend some time with this person over the Christmas period so you can be influenced by them more.

on the 10th day of Christmas

Read
“And Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord, and my Spirit rejoices in God my Saviour” Luke 1:46

Think
Mary was so thankful for what had happened her. She didn’t just take it for granted but realized what a miracle this was. This spilled over in her prayers to God.

Sometimes we might take Christmas for granted too much, and we should take more time to praise and thank God for what it really means.

Do / Pray
Write a prayer of thanks to God for what Christmas means to you.

on the 9th day of Christmas…

Read
“His mother treasured all these things in her heart.” Luke 2:51

Think
As Jesus grew up, many people shaped and influenced His young life. It’s amazing to think that the Son of God had to learn from others in His life. How humble our God is!

Pray
Pray for those who teach and lead you in school, church, or in other areas. Ask that you would have many influences in your life who would help show you more of Jesus.

Do
Encourage someone who has helped you by writing them a card to say thanks for all that they do for you and then giving it to them

on the 8th day of Christmas

Read
“They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11

Think
The wise men thought it was important to give gifts to Jesus as part of their worship. So often we can just think of ourselves and not look for ways to help others. Maybe we need to think about how we can give things away more in our lives as part of our worship to Jesus.

Pray
Pray for those in our country and our world who don’t have as much as us this Christmas.

Do
Save money by making a gift for someone this Christmas and then giving it away to a charity, church or project.

on the 7th day of Christmas…

Read
Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others – the armies of heaven – praising God and saying: “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” Luke 2:13-15

Think
It’s incredible to think that the awesome and majestic angels even turn to give praise to God. It’s important that we respond like the shepherds in doing the same. Giving praise to our God through our words and actions.

Pray
Read through the comments from ‘the third day of Christmas’ and take time to give praise to God for who He is. Pray and thank Him for all these amazing attributes to His character.

Do
Praise God by getting down to the Church Carol Service on Sunday night and bring  friend along to enjoy some the worship and the Christmas Movie on afterwards!! Be there at 6.30pm.

On the 6th Day of Christmas…

Read
“At that time there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him.” Luke 2:25

Think
Are we eagerly waiting to discover more about God? Are we searching for Him every day? This guy Simeon was watching out for God coming to earth. He didn’t want to miss out!! Maybe we need to take more time reading the messages God wants to communicate with us.

Pray
Ask God today to give you an appetite and desire to read your Bible more. And as you open it today to read the Christmas story ask Him to help you understand and enjoy it.

Do
Give up something today (like watching a tv programme, texting, going on facebook) and spend that time reading the Christmas story in Luke Chapters 1-2. Share your favourite verse by leaving a comment on this post.

on the 5th day of Christmas…

Read
“At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth.” Luke 1:39-40

Think
When Mary heard that she was going to give birth to Jesus, she was very troubled and worried by the news. So she went straight to her best friend Elizabeth’s house and stayed there for a few months. We all need help, support and friends when we are going through a tough time. Who are you supporting right now?

Pray
Think of someone you know who is going through a tough time with school work, friends or family. Pray for them, asking God to help them. Why not also pray that you could be a good support to them.

Do
Text that person going through a hard time to let them know your thinking and praying for them.

on the 4th day of Christmas…

read
“See, my servant will act wisely. He will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.” Isaiah 52:13

think
500 years before Jesus came to earth, God spoke through people to predict that he would be coming. And it wasn’t just a prediction saying that Jesus would be born. The prophets predicted the place, the name, and what He would be like. One of these important characteristics is that He would be a servant.

pray
It’s so hard to be a servant but God asks us to have that attitude in our lives. Ask God to help you be more of a servant.

do
Help out with the dishes or something else around your home today. And do it with a smile!!
